Make Every Stay a Safe One.
No matter where you stay, a few simple checks can help you feel safer and sleep easier. Use this checklist every time you arrive at a hotel or Airbnb.
Hotel Safety Tips
- Ask for a room on floors 2–5 (ground floors can be break-in targets; high floors are harder to reach in emergencies)
- Avoid rooms at the end of long hallways
- Use the deadbolt, door wedge, or portable lock when inside
- Keep the Do Not Disturb sign on the door even when you’re out
- Ask staff to confirm visitors — don’t open the door without checking
Airbnb & Private Stay Safety
- Research the host and read all reviews
- Message the host in advance and confirm check-in details
- Scan the property when you arrive: locate all exits and smoke detectors
- Lock windows and balcony doors
- Bring a portable doorstop or lock for added security
- If anything feels off — trust your gut and leave
